What is an Orthodontic Specialist?
An orthodontic specialist, or orthodontist, is a dentist who has completed additional education and training beyond dental school to specialize in the alignment of teeth, jaws, and facial structures. After earning their dental degree, orthodontists undergo a 2-3 year residency program, where they learn advanced techniques in diagnosing and treating issues like misaligned teeth, bite problems (malocclusions), and jaw irregularities. Dr. J completed a 3 year residency and a Master’s of Science at the University of Pennsylvania.
Orthodontists are experts in using various treatments, such as braces, clear aligners, and other devices, to correct these issues and improve the function and appearance of your smile. Their in-depth knowledge of facial development allows them to create personalized treatment plans for patients of all ages, ensuring that each individual receives the best care possible for their unique needs.
